I decided to do a series on protea flowers, more like a flower portrait with a simple white background. 

Observation of form and colour, rejoicing in their harsh beauty and simply rendering them in a more botanical fashion is the goal.

The Western Cape in South Africa is the worlds smallest but richest floral kingdom with proteas and fynbos abound.

In local tradition the protea represents change and hope......
