To all the Redheads out there who look glorious in red and any other jewel colour. I am watching many historical movies at the moment with all these rich velvets and silks in clothing and interiors and cannot say no to their influence! Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
Fresh from the easel and sold already to a collector from Germany ! Unfortunately the digital image doesn't bring out the sumptuous colour of the background namely an undefined deep purple. Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
Since ever I have been drawn to the graphic art of the Ndebele women who paint their houses and their surroundings in bright and earthy colours in oddly geomatric patterns.
Their combination of vivid colour and black and white exudes stark contrast emitting the idea of strong light which for me is the essence of Africa, the kingdom of the sun.
Here the juxtaposition of pure 2D graphic and 3D figurative creates a strange pull - nothing seems to be "right"!
I love it! Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
I am playing with complimentary colour mixtures for backgrounds........... here orange and cerulian blue. Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
This is my second still life I have ever done and dates back a few years and is still in my possession. It is painted from real life. I do love the composition, the clear lines and the very much "Giorgio Morandi" look.
It was one of those quick paintings too!!! Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
I got this beautiful alabaster green protea from one of my clients who grow them on their farm in Stellenbosch. Proteas as beautiful as they are in their own right- I love the bearded variety with their fury and velvety petals- are in principle rather rigid flowers.
The original idea was to offset the flower with a neutral background in interesting different white's,but I felt compelled to go for vivid colour with a palette knife!
I like the result.... Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
Two pears halves changing colour very quickly- unfortunately the photograph doesn't do any justice to the original! Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
No autumn is complete without an abundance of pears.Yellow, gold and green and subtle browns dominate the palette. I am testing colours against greys...... Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved

A black and white painting with very little colour for an exhibition at the Tank Art Gallery @ Stellenbosch HIlls in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
I must admit a have a great weakness for pears, their ambiguous shape and of course all those wonderful colourings. These forell pears surprised me with their bright greens and reds, every pear seems to have a character of their own......... Copyright Pera Schillings All rights reserved
